Sardinia, April 2025

Like last year, Sardinia in April. The island is still empty and the weather can go either way.
The program includes a round trip along the coast with a few detours inland.
We start in the north-east in Olbia, then drive south along the east coast, then on to the extreme south-west, from there to the extreme north-west and from there back to Olbia.
Marcellus from Extreme Tours organized the whole thing again.
We had a total of six driving days. At the beginning it was a bit chilly and on the second and third day we had some rain, fog and damp roads, but then it got much better.
The views along the coasts are magnificent. Rocks, white beaches and blue water make you think of the Caribbean.
And the coastal roads can wind for many kilometers.
There is plenty of wildlife. In addition to cows, goats, sheep and donkeys, there are also pigs and - as a special highlight - free-roaming flamingos.
Italian food is not to be sneezed at either.
There were only four of us. So it was a relatively small group.

As always, very tedious. There are more than 800 miles between Berlin and Livorno.
First I drive to Franz in the Westerwald and from there it's another 600 miles south by car with the motorcycles on the trailer. A very strenuous 12-hour drive.

We take the ferry to Olbia in Sardinia overnight. Then straight out of Olbia and breakfast. We then head north along the Costa Smeralda before turning south and crossing the Passo di Correboi to reach our hotel near Tortoli in Cea.

We stay in Cea and drive a southern loop. Our main destinations are the Costa Rei and the flamingos in the Cagliari lagoon.

Today we are doing the western loop into the Gennargentu Mountains. Damp roads, occasional fog and temperatures mainly in the single digits. Some rain after lunch. But nice empty roads and beautiful views whenever the fog lifts

We leave Cea and drive far to the southwest to the island of Sant'Antioco. At the beginning in the mountains it was cool and the roads were damp, but the further south we got towards the coast, the warmer and drier it became. In the end it was a good 20 degrees. Today we finally had pasta al ragù for lunch. Just as it should be in Italy.

Today we went from the extreme southwest along the coast to the extreme northwest of the island. The weather was perfect today. Blue skies and around 20 degrees. Roads empty except for a few city passages. The 42 kilometers of winding coastal road before Alghero, which you can drive through without stopping, were particularly impressive.

Today we drove from the northwest to the northeast back to Olbia. In between, we went up into the mountains again on a small pass with a long, empty and winding road. We also enjoyed the view from the Faro di Capo Testa.
This is already the sixth and last day of driving. In Olbia, we boarded the ferry again in the evening.

Again very exhausting. After the ferry arrives in Livorno early in the morning, we pack up, have another breakfast together and then set off on the long drive back to Germany by car. The next morning, I head home to Berlin on my motorcycle.
