Alps, Dolomites, June 2011
And again. Alps. This time a remake of the 2010 Dolomites tour. This time we move our base a little bit to the East to Calalzo di Cadore in order to be able to reach Slowenia and Austria.
As last year with me are Irmgard, Martina, Wolfgang and Thomas
I had a total of 2500 miles on 9 days of which we had about 1650 miles on 7 days in the mountains.
I go all across Germany to Schwabmünchen
Together with Wolfgang and Irmgard we go to Calalzo di Cadore. Weather is not cooperating. It is raining and quite chilly.
View to Timmelsjoch from Sölden
First loop through the Dolomites. Martina comes with us. We will go over some rather high passes.
Morning coffee at Staulanza
Großglockner is the highest Austrian Mountain. There is a toll road crossing the area which delivers unbelievable views. A long tour this day but it will be worth it.
The glacier at Franz-Josef-Höhe
Martina comes with us onto an Eastern loop.
Roads are quite narrow and passes not quite high
A very wet day. We wanto to go West over some higher passes. The roads are wet and we have heavy rain from time to time.
The last tour brings us to Slowenia and to the Mangart road. A jewel. Magnificient views. We had some fog on the top and could not see much up there.
We return to Germany.Via Würzjoch, Jaufenpass and Timmelsjoch and then via Kühtai. It is still quite chilly and we have some rain on Kühtai.
I return to Berlin
